Powerful Partnerships

Building a high-performing team requires establishing a partnership among the team, its leader, and its key stakeholders, particularly senior management. Each partner plays a unique and necessary role in a team’s sustained success.

Innovation Through Team Emotional Intelligence

Many leaders now realize that emotional intelligence (EI) is as critical as IQ to an individual’s effectiveness. But if most of your work is done in teams or you aspire to increasing team collaboration and innovation, team-level emotional intelligence may be even more important than individual EI.

What Makes Good Teams Work Better

Several years ago, a team of internal organizational experts and academics engaged in a multi-method, multi-year scientific study to pinpoint what specific team behaviors and practices and what external situational factors distinguish the best cross-functional drug development teams from average performing teams.

The results from this study are described in the following paper. Eileen Flynn, our President, and Matthew Mangino, our CEO, were members of this research team at the time of publication. It outlines the specific team leader, team member and senior leadership behaviors and practices that drive and sustain high levels of team performance. These findings provided a preliminary road map for pharmaceutical teams, but through our work we have found they apply equally to teams in other industries as well.
